The «Canadian Maple Leaf» coin has been issued since 1979 by the Royal Canadian Mint in 6 different denomination versions. Until 1983, the coins contained 0.999 pure gold. In 1983 the pure gold content was increased to 0.999 (or 24 carat).
It is the legal tender of Canada.
